NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt men’s tennis caps off its four-match road trip with a visit to No. 25 Alabama on Sunday.
Vandy rolls into Tuscaloosa after falling 4-3 to Auburn on Friday. Fifth year Henry Ruger notched his team-leading 13th singles win against the Tigers, moving to 8-3 in dual matches. The loss saw the Dores fail to clinch the doubles point for just the third time all season. Vanderbilt still owns seven ranked doubles wins, compared to Alabama with five. Both teams are deadlocked at 5-5 in the last 10 meetings; the Crimson Tide edged out a 4-3 win in Nashville last season.
Alabama picked up its first conference win on Friday, downing Georgia 4-3 at home. The Crimson Tide have one ranked win on the resume after defeating No. 15 Florida State 4-3 earlier this month. Despite trailing the Commodores in ranked doubles wins, Alabama has racked up plenty in singles; the Crimson Tide have produced nine ranked victories thus far. Filip Planinsek is 5-0 against ranked singles opponents, and is 9-0 across the season at No. 1 singles. Roan Jones, Alabama’s leader in singles wins at 18, has the other four ranked wins for the team.
No. 32 Vanderbilt (8-4, 1-2 SEC) faces No. 25 Alabama (9-3, 1-2 SEC) with play set to begin at 1 p.m. Live streaming will be available online, with live stats accessible here at the start of the match.
