HILTON HEAD, S.C. — Vanderbilt women’s golf tied for eighth place this week at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. The Commodores tallied a 32-over-par total over the three-day competition, finishing the final round with a team score of 301 strokes.
Lynn Lim led the Commodores on a rainy and windy Wednesday with a 2-under 69 performance, carding three birdies on the back nine for the low round of the day. She tied for 26th individually. Ava Merrill and Tillie Claggett tied for 21st with 7-over totals for the event. Merrill notched a final-round 77, and Claggett had a 78. Angelina Tolentino, placing 33rd, also shot a 77. Sara Im went for an 85. Competing as an individual, Charlene Chung completed her week with a 75.
Vanderbilt tied with Auburn in the team competition. Host South Carolina and LSU shared the title, both finishing at 11-over over 54 holes. Six of the top eight schools were from the Southeastern Conference.
Vanderbilt returns to the course next week at the Yale Invitational West. The two-day event will be held at PGA West in La Quinta, California, on March 10-11.
