NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt women’s golf returns to the course this weekend for the annual Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, South Carolina. This year will be the 13th appearance for the Commodores.
Golf Channel will be providing live coverage of the event each day from 1:30-4:30 p.m. CT. The network made history in 2022 as the tournament became the only all-women’s collegiate event to be broadcast by the network.
“We’re excited and grateful for another opportunity to compete in the Darius and get to play Long Cove,” said head coach Greg Allen.
Long Cove Club will play at par 71 and 6,413 yards over the three-day event. The lineup for Vanderbilt this week consists of Lynn Lim, Ava Merrill, Sara Im, Tillie Claggett and Angelina Tolentino. Charlene Chung will be competing as an individual.
“It’s no doubt the strongest regular season tournament we play, and the golf course is very demanding,” said Allen. “It’s always a nice test to see where we’re at mid-way through the spring.”
Twelve CLIPPD Top 25-ranked teams lead the stacked field in this week’s tournament. No. 12 Vanderbilt will go up against 16 other schools, with nine being conference foes. The entire list includes Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Duke, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Northwestern, Ohio State, South Carolina, Texas, UCLA and Wake Forest.
“We need to play very disciplined and stay committed to the game plan and do our best to minimize the damage if we make a mistake,” said Allen.
Vanderbilt is looking for its first podium finish at the tournament since a runner-up performance in 2014. The Commodores have placed in the top three in three of its events this season.
The Commodores will tee off alongside Duke and Kentucky at 8:20 a.m. CT on Monday.
