Brooke Baker scored a game-high five goals

TEMPE, Ariz. – Brooke Baker led all scorers with five goals as Vanderbilt’s late surge wasn’t enough to overcome Arizona State, 16-15, on Saturday afternoon at the Sun Devil Lacrosse Stadium.

Vanderbilt (2-5) opened the first quarter with two goals from Kemper Robinson and Baker before Arizona State (6-2) managed to score. The Dores added three more goals, establishing a 5-3 lead after the opening period. Nancy Halleron netted her first goal of the day in the second frame and went on to score two more for a second quarter hat trick, giving Vandy an 11-9 lead at halftime. The Sun Devils recorded five unanswered goals, taking their first lead of the day, to enter the final frame up 14-12. The Commodores scored three goals in the last quarter, but Arizona State held on in the final minutes to secure its first win over Vanderbilt.

Vanderbilt (2-5) had goals from seven different players, led by Baker’s seven points, who posted five goals for the fourth time in her career, the first since last season against East Carolina. Cate Bradley registered her first two goals of the season off the bench, while Molly Krestinski also found the back of the cage for the first time in 2025. Halleron posted her sixth career hat trick, the second of the season.

Jaime Biskup scored twice, marking multi-goal performances in every contest but one this year. In cage, Molly Joyce made 10 saves, her third game of the season with 10-plus stops. Freshman Kiera Runske made her first career start for Vandy, earning four draw controls. Robinson added one goal and a team-high five draw controls for the Dores.

The Sun Devils were led by Jordyn Behar who registered a game-high tying seven points off four goals and three assists. Teagan Ng also added four goals off four shots for Arizona State while Lydia Oldknow posted three goals. Anna Viglione commanded the draw circle with a game-high 15 controls, the most by any Vandy opponent this season, while Berit Brookfield added five draws for the home team.

The Commodores continue its road stance visiting Coastal Carolina on Wednesday. Opening draw is set for 11 a.m. CT on ESPN+.
