Weissman Recognized for Service Efforts

Junior named to 2025 SEC Community Service Team

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt’s Hannah Weissman has been selected to this year’s SEC Women’s Swimming & Diving Community Service Team it was announced by the league office on Tuesday.

The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams—which look to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts—for all 21 league sponsored sports.

A two-year member of Vanderbilt’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee—including serving as the group’s vice president during the 2024-25 season—Weissman has worked with her fellow student-athletes to promote engagement, community service and career development. This season she has also worked on weekends as a volunteer with the Pediatric Emergency Department, where she helps make decisions on developmentally appropriate activities to engage and comfort children during their hospital stay. Weissman also has experience as a camp counselor at the Center for Courageous Kids, a role that saw her actively engage with children with medical issues and their families while attending a weekend overnight camp.

Originally from Maple Valley, Washington, Weissman was named to the 2022-23 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll following her freshman season at Vanderbilt, and she made the SEC Academic Honor Roll the following year for her efforts in the classroom since enrolling in school.

Currently ranked 10th on the program’s all-time performer list in the 100 backstroke, the junior has met the CSCAA National Invitation Championship B standard in the 100 backstroke each of the last two seasons, also making the A cut in the 50 backstroke as a sophomore and the B cut in the 200 backstroke as a freshman.

Weissman recorded the Commodores’ top time in the 100 backstroke and ranked third in the 200 backstroke her first season at the collegiate level, and was among the top five on the team in the 100 freestyle and 100 and 200 backstroke in 2023-24. This season, she is among the top five on the program’s performer list in both the 50 and 100 freestyle entering the opening day of the SEC Championships in Athens, Georgia.
