Dores Continue Cabo Excursion

No. 14/13 Commodores card 2-over in Round 2 of the Cabo Collegiate

CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico – Senior Jackson Van Paris paces the No. 14/13-ranked Vanderbilt men’s golf team at the end of two rounds of play at the 2025 Cabo Collegiate, as the All-American sits in a tie for ninth at 1-under 141.

The Commodores concluded Round 2 of the Cabo Collegiate at 2-over 286. Vanderbilt moved up two spots on the team leaderboard on Monday, as the Dores head into the tournament’s final round in ninth place at 14-over 582.

Van Paris was one of two Commodores who finished at par or better in Round 2. The senior wrapped up his second go-around the course at the Twin Dolphin Club at even par 71. The All-American opened his day with a bogey but then proceeded to card par in each of his next nine holes. After pulling even in the round with a birdie on Hole 2, Van Paris parred out the rest of his day.

Sophomore Chase Nevins matched his career-best 18-hole score on Tuesday, as he carded 4-under 68. The Great Falls, Virginia, native strung together three-straight birdies on Holes 16 through 18 and finished Round 2 by going 1-under on both Holes 11 and 12.

“It was great to see our guys battle all day on a good test of golf after a slow start,” said Thomas F. Roush, M.D. and Family Vanderbilt Men’s Golf Head Coach Scott Limbaugh. “That’s the type of resiliency we want to have and that’s what it takes on this course.  We had to make a decision if we were going to fight through this round, which takes some mental and physical toughness. Chase really played well on his last fifteen holes and gave the team a huge lift, which was big for us. Jackson was steady and in full control all day long. We were close to having a really good round and just need a few more putts to drop. I think everyone has to own their mindsets so we are locked in from the start because I know we can be more consistent with that.”

No. 3/3 Arizona State holds a nine-stroke lead over the field after 36 holes of play at the Cabo Collegiate. The Sun Devils head into Tuesday with a two-round total of 13-under 555. Florida State’s Tyler Weaver takes a one-stroke lead over a pair of golfers into Round 3, as he sits at 7-under 135.

Round 3 of the 2025 Cabo Collegiate takes place Tuesday. Teams will begin the day with a 9:30 a.m. CT shotgun start. Vanderbilt will tee off Round 3 from Holes 10A through 13. Fans can click the link here to follow along with live stats.
