CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico – All-American Jackson Van Paris posted his second-straight top-10 finish, as the senior tied for eighth at the 2025 Cabo Collegiate with a three-round score of 3-under 210.
Van Paris had his best 18-hole performance on the final day of the tournament, as he concluded Round 3 at 2-under 69. The senior started his round on Hole 10 and collected three-straight birdies on Holes 17 through 1. He finished Round 3 with five total birdies. The Pinehurst, North Carolina, native’s performance on Tuesday allowed him to move up two spots on the player leaderboard, finishing the 2025 Cabo Collegiate in a tie for seventh. It is Van Paris’ second-straight top-10 finish, as he tied for fourth at the Watersound Invitational. Additionally, it is the fourth time this season that the senior has placed inside the top 10 on the player leaderboard.
“Jackson is leading our team each time out and playing with a ton of consistency and has a great attitude,” said Thomas F. Roush, M.D. and Family Vanderbilt Men’s Golf Head Coach Scott Limbaugh. “I’m excited to see how he continues to lead us going forward.”
The No. 14/13-ranked Commodores concluded the 2025 Cabo Collegiate in ninth place with a 54-hole total of 21-over 873. Vanderbilt posted round scores of 296-286-291 during its three-day stay at Twin Dolphin Golf Club.
“This was a championship test this week against a championship field and we learned a lot,” stated Limbaugh. “When things are difficult, it makes you better and you can’t waste an opportunity to learn. Our guys competed hard this week and it’s obvious to me how much this team matters to them. However, this wasn’t the week we wanted and we all have to get better and more disciplined to do the simple things better.
“We are over halfway through our spring season and there are only two more opportunities to compete and grow before championship season. Each player and coach has to know if they are making the team stronger and if not, we need to figure out what needs to change. We have to be excited to get in the dirt and get better at doing all the little things to our standards because we aren’t doing that consistently enough right now.”
No. 3/3 Arizona State captured the team title in Cabo, as the Sun Devils carded 14-under 838. There was a three-way tie for first place at the end of Round 3 between ASU’s Pongsapak Laopakdee, Oklahoma State’s Preston Stout and Florida State’s Tyler Weaver, as each finished at 8-under 205. FSU’s Weaver won the playoff hole to win the tournament’s individual title.
The Dores are back in action March 24-25, as Vanderbilt travels to Palm City, Florida for the Valspar Collegiate Invitational.
“We have two weeks to prepare and train before our next event, which is another great test on a championship course,” added Vanderbilt’s head coach. “I need to lead better and help show the way and we cannot make excuses because that is the opposite from taking ownership.”
