Van Paris Named to Haskins Award First Spring Watch List

The senior moves another step closer to the 2025 Haskins Award with his selection to the First Spring Watch List

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Vanderbilt men’s golf senior Jackson Van Paris has been named to the 2024-25 Haskins Award, presented by Stifel, First Spring Watch List, announced Monday by Golfweek and Golf Channel.

Van Paris was among 20 collegiate golfers named to this year’s Haskins Award First Spring Watch List. It is the first time that the Pinehurst, North Carolina, native has been a spring finalist for the Haskins Award, as he was previously named to the Final Fall and Preseason Watch Lists.

Created in 1971, the Haskins Award is given annually to the most outstanding men’s college golfer, as voted on by players, coaches, and media members. Past winners include Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, Matt Kuchar, Patrick Cantlay, Justin Thomas, and the reigning winner, Jackson Koivun. This coveted trophy honors the year’s outstanding college golfer and the memory of Fred Haskins, a club pro who spent his life nurturing and mentoring amateur golfers.

The senior has enjoyed a spectacular 2024-25 campaign, as he leads the Commodores in stroke average at 70.19 strokes per round through seven tournaments. Van Paris, currently No. 6 in the PGA TOUR University ranking, has finished under par in a team-best 12 rounds this season. He carded a season-best 4-under 68 twice, first in Round 1 of the 2024 Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate in the fall and more recently in Round 3 of the 2025 Watersound Invitational. The All-American finished inside the top 10 four times and has collected a top-20 finish in all seven tournaments he has played in. His best 54-hole score of the 2024-25 campaign came at the Watersound Invitational, where he finished at 6-under 210. Van Paris checked in at No. 7 in the most recent World Amateur Golf Ranking.

Van Paris was selected to the preseason Haskins Award Watch List after a breakout junior campaign in 2023-24. The Pinehurst, North Carolina, native earned a GCAA Division I PING All-American honorable mention nod and was an All-SEC second-team selection. The senior had a successful summer on the amateur circuit. He was runner-up at the North & South Amateur, advanced to match play at the 124th United States Amateur, and teamed up with fellow Vanderbilt golfer Gordon Sargent to help the U.S. win the Palmer Cup.
